Piracy, aka Gloria Melissa Carbalo, was born 1986 in Hayward, California near San Francisco. She is a DJ and singer – singjay who is very versatile and charismatic. She has a hardcore delivery inna digital raggamuffin style of old school Jamaican deejays like Sister Nancy, Chakademus, Rankin Ann, Brigadeir Jerry and Sister Carol. She cites Sister Carol as one of her biggest influences besides Lady Saw, Mr.Vegas and Tiger.

She was “discovered” by San Diego DJ Carlos Culture in the summer of 2008. The two met at a local backyard party where DJ Carlos was the selector working out the sound system. During the set, Piracy wanted a riddim to “murder”. This was their first meeting. The two went on for a while and formed a partnership and released “Piracy- Lost At Sea” in December of 2011. Her band mate Scooter Maier produced most of the material on the CD.

In between their meeting and the CD release Piracy met a band the South Bay Wailers and performed countless shows in the San Diego – Southern California Region. She performs all styles of reggae: Roots, Dancehall, Lovers, and Rockers!
