A cumbia-roots-rock-reggae band from East Los Angeles, Quinto Sol’s music is contagious and inspiring. With a sound deeply rooted in the Americas, Caribbean, and Africa, this group has been a staple of the west coast music scene since 1993. Playing roots reggae at the core, they seamlessly weave together cumbia, salsa, reggae, R&B, dancehall, and Latin soul into a unique synthesis which is more than the sum of its parts.
They have twice been awarded “Best Latin Artist” (2004 & 2005) by LA Weekly Magazine and 2009 was a busy year which saw the release of two highly anticipated CDs. Spirits of the Martyrs (and Martyrs in Dub) was mixed by the legendary Scientist, Hopeton Brown, and Quinto Sol & Friends featured them alongside international stars like Gregory Issacs, Alika, H.R, and Amlak Tafari.
Guaranteed to take you on a World Beat tour like no other, Quinto Sol never fails to bring the party, whether performing their own original material or backing the biggest names in reggae.
